Intimate coffeehouse, very nice laid back environment, fireplace and everything you would expect of a first-rate coffeehouse. Great coffee, each cup is brewed individually. Good selection of pastries, sandwiches. Provides free wireless Internet. No tipping - "the best tip is a return customer". Open since June 2004. Music on Wednesdays and Fridays, sometimes Thursdays. "The Genesis House Vision: It is our heart's desire that everyone who comes through our door will
experience a taste of paradise.
We believe that though people have diverse views about life & God, we, nevertheless, are all essentially one in Spirit.
To that end, we seek to make Genesis House an oasis of unconditional love and acceptance for all who enter,
and offer them a gathering place for conversation, refreshment and artistic self-expression.
We envision, is short... a taste of paradise."
Nicely decorated coffeehouse, art gallery, stage big enough to squeeze a full band on it,
seating for up to 55 or so, decent sound system for musicians, lighting is adequate but nothing special.
Packs out for open mic night. A lot of construction going on in the area -
parking available in the lot just east of the building.
All kinds of things going on: music, drama, poetry, dances, talks, meetings, Bible studies, etc.
Some activities leaning a little more to the left. (For example, they host Green Alliance events and the "Pride Concert" for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered musicians and singers). Can't tell you much about the food other than that the chile is real good. Here's a write-up about it from The Common Space.

Live music most Friday nights
The coffeeshop has been open since July 2004. Featuring espresso, coffee, pastries, and free wireless Internet. A very relaxed environment with lots of room - actually a medium sized coffee bar area with a large hangout area where musicians can play, board games are available as well as a number of books. An additional door leads next door to a church, Ecclesia. Live music is offered on Friday evenings. They try to run as both a successful business as well as a sensitive ministry. Their desire is to be an outreach to the youth that would be turned off by an overtly religious environment. They do provide a sound system and are able to use the church next door for bands on occassions, but generally prefer acoustic artists with original music.

"The Largest Venue for Live Christian Music in St. Louis" They've had over 100 groups in the last 2+ years! Extremely tastefully decorated, fireplace. Besides a nice menu and great coffee, they also sell quality Christian books and a small selection of CD's - including a lot of screaming deals in the discount CD area. They also have a number of board games to play while you are hanging out. The Solid Rock has a very nice "laid back" feel to it and many regard this as one of the nicest coffeehouses in the area. It is definitely worth the drive. Here's some additional info from the Post-Dispatch.
Also, keep it in mind as a place to drop by before or after you go to Six Flags.
Room for 60 or so seated. Provides a basic sound system for musicians. They also put on an "inside festival" in July with a dozen or so local bands playing. Many thanks to Chris Neugebauer at the Solid Rock Kaffee Haus for providing many of the artist's links on this page. Here's a quick link that takes you in to see who's playing: events.

They also put on the "Cave Fest" music fest in August 2002 and 2003 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds - 1500 people attended. Web site has not been updated for quite some time.

Open on occassional Saturday nights - check the web page calendar.
This is a fairly small venue - I've only been there once but one of the workers noted one time
they had 70 people there and it looked to me like it would be very crowded with 25! It looked like a pretty
diverse crowd, both young and old. Low budget, but it was still
a pretty good experience overall. You may
want to park at the library next door. No cover charge, but they passed the hat to take a donation.
I think they are expanding their facilities to make it 3x larger. They do have a house PA system.

Just come and be with us and share your music ministry with us at that time. When a concert is not scheduled on Saturday evenings, there will be Bible study time, and also there could be open mic nights as well.
Also if you would like to read Christian poetry, you are welcome to share that as well.
We will as the Lord leads schedule concerts, but, this fall season there will not be an abundance of concerts.
If you want to share the ministry of music that God has given you, you are welcome to stop in on Saturday evenings."

Join us for the next attic! Bring your friends for loud music in a safe environment for youth and young adults."
Looks like more of a youth club / concert venue than a coffeehouse. I am not sure how "Christian" some of these bands are other than The Attic doesn't allow profanity.

Meets the fourth Sunday of the month (after their church service) at 7:15 PM for 2 or 3 hours.
This coffeehouse is run by the church's youth pastor. It can handle small musical groups in a side room with a cozy atmosphere. Or for full bands they use the church's auditorium. You won't forget that you are meeting in a
church, but they have done a good job at making it feel casual. A nice place to drop by in South St. Louis and so close to Ted Drews.

This coffeehouse is in the basement/youth room of the church, but all ages will feel right at home here. Seating for 60 or so and much more standing up (has outside overflow). They have lots of board games and provide a nice environment for socializing. Serves decent food and drinks quite inexpensively. Open to all kinds of music including full bands and louder music. Provides a PA system if needed. They have some really nice lights as well - the only coffeehouse in the St. Louis area I am aware of with theatre lights. The main contact - as well as the pastor - does a great job of making everyone feel comfortable.
